Individual Therapy
Whether there is a specific issue that seems to be preventing you from living life the way you would like, or a general sense that you want your life to be different, we offer a way to find solutions so you can move forward in a positive direction.
Couples Counseling
Couples sometimes experience conflicts and feel stuck - despite much discussion it may seem difficult to move forward. Patterns may exist in the relationship that keep us fixed in one place, even though we seek to change. Our goal is to help open up communication, to help partners understand each other better, to clarify each other’s needs, and to move toward a resolution that may seem unattainable otherwise.
Parent Counseling
Parenting is not something we are trained for. Many parents find themselves doing the same or the opposite of what their parents did, and often wonder if there is a better way. Parenting skills can be learned to make this job satisfying and rewarding...and easier! Lifelong, healthy relationships with your children are the result.
Play Therapy
Children naturally express themselves through play. They do not always have the language to express their thoughts, feelings and struggles. We use play therapeutically to help children talk about whatever may be troubling them. We give them the tools and a safe environment to work on problems, find solutions and learn more effective coping skills.
Family Therapy
Families face many challenges as they change, develop and grow. We help family members work together to solve their shared problems, improve communication, and strengthen their relationships.
Socialization Groups for Children
In a goal-oriented and fun setting, we help children improve their social skills and learn to communicate more effectively. Your child will have the opportunity to make new friends, increase self-confidence, express thoughts and feelings, learn to cooperate with peers, and resolve conflicts.
New mother’s have special concerns, whether it is a first baby or an addition to a growing family. A group experience can provide information and support, as well as a safe place to share your thoughts and feelings.
There are millions of people in NYC, and yet it can be hard to find others in our special situation as urban parents. A group experience can provide information and support, and a unique place to share all your concerns.
Parent Effectiveness Training, established in the 1960’s by Thomas Gordon, PhD., provides parents with specific skills and techniques that work in all situations that arise with our children. It is a practical, hands-on method to help you talk with your children. Join a workshop with other parents to share and learn this system of communication together.
